Expansion Steps for the Marklin Z track SET extension set program
In Europe the idea of extension sets become popular because it made expansion of your basic starter set track oval easy. These sets are therefore designed to give you an easy way to expand the layout.
Below you will find the different expansion steps for the SET extension set program. All of the examples are planned with electric turnouts. If you are using the 8190 track extension set, then you must substitute the Marklin 8565 turnout in places where we show the 8562 and use your Marklin 8566 for the 8563.
Your typical start is with a small oval as you will find in many starter sets. The designation for this oval is "S". You can then expand with a set designated "E". For this expansion we have the Marklin 8190 (manual turnouts) and the Marklin 8191 (same set but with remote controlled turnouts) available.
Adding Extension Set T1 (8192) and Extension Set T2 (8193) allows for a large expansion of your Z Scale layout.
