Freight Cars Cargo Transport Fc FS/Glr Dresden/G Kassel DRG, set of 3

In the last century, the porcelain industry was one of the main sources of income in the Fichtelgebirge. After the development of transportation infrastructure, the railway naturally played an important role in the delivery of raw materials and the shipment of finished products. In Selb alone, there were several daily connections from porcelain factories. Piece goods were transported in covered freight cars, which obviously involved a lot of manual labour in the times before the invention of the pallet. Before the creation of the EUROP fleet, foreign freight cars were returned directly to their home country after unloading. If there was a batch to be delivered in this direction, they might have also made a detour. In the late 30's, new FS pitched roof cars carried the &ldquo, white gold&rdquo, back over the Alps. Since the cargo did not take advantage of the additional load weight, DRG gladly employed largevolume cars such as the Glr &ldquo, Dresden&rdquo, . The most built G-Wagen of the Verbandsbauart (association design) type, following Musterblatt (specification sheet) A2, was also widespread here.
