There were few unusual car deployments on most branch lines, conventional G- and O-Wagen were almost always sufficient to meet transportation needs. In addition to the shipment of agricultural products, the transportation of energy sources &ndash, i.e., coal &ndash, was immensely important. There were local coal dealers on almost every loading track, with conveyor belts and sack scales for unloading the cars. In addition to express and general cargo, before the development of special cars G-Wagen were also used for the transport of moisture-sensitive bulk goods. Potatoes and grains were shipped this way, for example. In contrast, the O-Wagen were used to transport sweet things such as apples, which were to be further processed into juice. Transports such as this can still be observed today in Switzerland.
