The Alstom LHB Coradia LINT is a family of local diesel railcars. The "LINT" stands for "Light Innovative Nahverkehrstriebwagen [light, innovative, local railcar]". The LINT was developed by the firm of Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) and subsequently incorporated into the ALSTOM Coradia - family following the takeover of LHB by Alstom. The LINT 41 consists of two articulated cars, each sharing a Jacobs bogie in the centre of the train. Thanks to the automatic centre-buffer coupling, up to three units can be coupled together to make up a longer train. The vehicles have four outer doors, a toilet in each car, plus an area for baggage. Several companies running these units have installed ticket dispensing machines just inside the doors.
Motors, each developing 315 kW, are mounted beneath the raised floor areas between the drive bogie and the entry area of both coaches, each driving the axles of the end bogies via a cardan shaft and axle drive. The number "41" in the name refers to the length of the train unit (41,890 m for the LINT 41). The two-car LINT41 is classified by the Deutsche Bahn AG [German Railways] as class 648.
