Based on:
In the first decades of the 20th century, the railways and coal mines within the Ruhr industrial area were inseparably bound together. Every large pit possessed their own track connection, leading to "miner's luck". These connections to the main lines of the state railway belonged to the Royal Colliery and Harbour Lines, a union of several pits in the area around Gladbeck/Bottrop/Gelsenkirchen. FLEISCHMANN now brings you a typical colliery train from this period. The steam engine "miner's luck" pulls five trucks: an open goods truck of the K.P.E.V., loaded with wooden pit props, a goods wagon with typical tipper trucks used to transport coal in the yards and a four axled flat truck with "fish-belly" carrier with pulley and cable drums, an open cattle truck of the K.P.E.V., bringing the pit ponies to their place of work and a combined crew and equipment van typical of colliery lines.
