Roco 74096 - 3 piece set 2: Motorail "Christoforus-Express"
From 1969 the Deutsche Bundesbahn set up the D 1410/1411 as a fast daily connection between Düsseldorf / Cologne and Munich. For the first time, the DB tried to get normal and business travel all year round for the rail with particularly low tariffs compared to tourist traffic. The travel time was almost seven hours. In order to be able to run the train at up to 160 km / h, 20 wagons of the DDm 915 type were equipped with magnetic rail brakes. From 1971, the E-Lok series 103 was generally used, but other series, e.g. B. BR 111, were also used as a locomotive.
The "Christoforus-Express" initially operated six times a week, daily from summer 1970. The D 1484/1485 "Auto-Traum-Express" from Hamburg-Altona to Munich East, which was introduced as a night connection, expanded the range.
These trains became the mainstay of automobile-train travel in the 1970s.
