Die als ÖBB-Reihe 2062 geläufige Diesellok wurde 1957 im Rahmen des österreichischen Staatsvertrags zunächst mit 50 Stück an die Sowjetunion geliefert. Mit ihrer doppelwandigen, thermisch isolierten Konstruktion des Motorraumvorbaus, waren die mit Allesbrenner-Heizkesseln und zusätzlicher Führerhausbeheizung ausgestatteten Maschinen für Umgebungstemperaturen von -50 bis +45 °C ausgelegt.
