Brawa 40285 - Express Train Locomotive S9 K.P.E.V. AC Digital Sound
The 99 S9 delivered by Hanomag were mainly used as express trains on the north German lines of the KPEV. Although it was the most powerful 2´, B1´, express train locomotive in Europe, the engine did not meet the requirements for a working engine for very long. As a result of the First World War, a few long express trains were used instead of short trains with high travel speeds. With their load, the S9 were not powerful enough, especially when starting, so that there were often delays. The Essen railway division had a total of ten engines of type S9, which were also used as express trains and passenger trains.
