Information about the model
After 1945, the DB had around a third of the almost 20,000 Om "Königsberg" cars built in its inventory. In 1951, 2,500 cars were renumbered as one of the first types of cars to be labeled with the "DB" and the new designation "Om 21". These cars were the first to be added to the EUROP park established with the SNCF. Cars belonging to this pool were allowed to be treated as their own by the participating railways and could therefore also be used on transport routes within the country, while a third-party car could otherwise only be loaded in the direction of the home administration. Due to the changed circumstances resulting from the liberalization of the railways in many European countries, the EUROP pool has since been dissolved.
The open freight cars of the "Königsberg" type district that remained with the DR remained in use unchanged until the mid-1960s. In contrast to the DB, a conversion program was dispensed with and only minimal changes were made to planned damage groups. The Raw Dresden, the Raw "8th of May" Eberswalde and the Raw "7th of October" Zwickau are responsible for the open wagons. The wooden side walls are often later replaced with steel ones, the wheel sets are given roller bearings and the brakeman's cab is eliminated.
