Also the East German Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) reinforced the Car body of their �Pwg�, but had more self-control regarding the diversity of variants than the responsible DB people, and they even built the standardised �Pwg� body upon the undercarriages of other Cars. Partly, the Cars were equipped with roller bearing wheel sets and new axle holders. The last of these old models were still in use up to the early nineties. At that time, for many years already, also the DR had no more trains that were accompanied by a chief train conductor, but due to the numerous railway stations and private siding tracks with goods traffic, a Car for the co-travelling shunting personnel of the short-distance goods trains was needed in many places.
