ESU 51840 - SignalPilot
SignalPilot, accessory decoder with 16 outputs Push/Pull
The ESU 51840 - SignalPilot is a brand new multi-protocol accessory decoder designed for controlling signals. Due to its intelligent software it supports DCC and Marklin Motorola®. Flexible programming makes this decoder THE all-rounder amongst accessory decoders. The SignalPilot has 16 outputs for direct connection of micro lamps respectively LEDs installed in daylight signals. Due to the fact that the outputs are designed as push/pull power amplifiers, they are suitable for both – conventional daylight signals with common anode as well as for daylight signals and/or lighting strips with common ground (common cathode), as is the case with some Viessmann® signals. Of course, the SignalPilot decoder can also handle semaphore signals and turnout motors.
Operating modes
The SignalPilot supports both DCC with RailComPlus® and Motorola®. Programming allows for each output to be assigned to any address or to a combination of addresses.
Functionality
The SignalPilot can be powered either directly by the digital command station or by any transformer /power supply unit providing DC or AC. You may wire LEDs from two-, three or four-aspect daylight signals directly to any of the outputs. Each output can be programmed individually to generate continuous output, blinking light or pulsed light. Brightness and blinking frequency respectively number of pulses can be adjusted as desired. The same goes for the cross fading times.
Various prototypical lighting effects such as soft dimming, fluorescent lamp effect, faulty fluorescent lamp, gas lantern imitation, battery powered lighting, flickering light and many more assure a very realistic experience. Random on/off switching and delayed switching (on and off) are also part of the features. Even programmed sequences over time are possible.
Flexible mapping enables you to assign the outputs individually to their respective addresses and switching modes. Thus any possible signal aspect can be displayed.
Alternately you can also control semaphore signals and point motors with the SignalPilot.
Signal aspects
Ex works the SignalPilot "knows" many signal aspects commonly used in Germany, Belgium or in Switzerland today or in the past. These signal aspects can easily be assigned to the individual outputs – the SignalPilot takes care of the correct display of the aspects and the required cross-fading effects. This is done either by setting a few CVs or with the aid of the LokProgrammer.
LokProgrammer
The easiest method of configuring the SignalPilot is programming it with the ESU LokProgrammer, also available at Ajckids.com. Simply choose the desired signal type, and the wiring will be displayed on the screen.
Analogue mode
The SignalPilot would not be an ESU product, if it would not offer some more useful features: It also works without a digital command station! There are 4 inputs allowing you controlling the signals with ordinary push buttons.
Designed with future developments in mind
The firmware of the SignalPilot can be updated with the aid of the LokProgrammer at any time. This may be necessary whenever we add new signal types.
