In the 30´s of the last century, the steam Locomotives had to prove their worth. Therefore, several of the class 03 Locomotives from the Locomotive depot at Hamburg-Altona were upgraded to give a top speed of 140 km/h. However, they were only permitted to actually run at 120 km/h. In FD-train service, these racers hauled the latest coaches of the period in their brown/green livery of the time, with the rounded DRG eagle emblem. These trains managed to cover the route between Berlin and Hamburg in just over two and a half hours, which for the time was a remarkable performance! FLEISCHMANN brings these FD-trains back to life in model form: Class 03 steam engine, with Indusi safety equipment and 2´2´ T 32 (riveted) tender, baggage coach, wine red MITROPA restaurant car and two 1st/2nd class passenger coaches, one of which is fitted with tail indicator boards. The baggage coach has access steps fitted at each end, whilst the remaining coaches do have the roof boards mounted although without access steps on the ends.
