The class 185.2 is an electric dual-system locomotive featuring a crash-optimised locomotive body by Bombardier Transportation. It can be operated on both the 15 kV/16 2/3 Hz and 25 kV/ 50 Hz AC voltage systems commonly used in Europe. The first locomotive of this type was handed over to Deutsche Bahn in January 2005. By 2009, 202 locomotives of the 185.2 class had been delivered to DB AG.
