Marklin 24995 - C-Track Contact Track Set (wheels)
Two straight track sections, each 94.2 mm / 3-11/16 inches"
Continuous contact through wheel sets. With insulated section of rail for track occupation feedback when traversed by a train. Can be extended with regular straight or curved track sections.
Charlie's Tip: This is a very easy way to add a contact track, or contact track section. This will work with any locomotive, or car on that track (as long as the car is not equipped with DC wheels, it has to have Marklin or "AC" wheels).
Regular contact tracks, like the 24994, operate with the pickup shoes only, and give a "momentary" pulse. These tracks here will work (detect/sense) cars too, and can be used on longer track sections as occupancy detection.
When you add track pieces between the two contact tracks, you will have to cut two small metal connectors ("bridges") on each piece of track that you add. These bridges connect the two outer rails of each track, and that connection has to be broken for this to work.
Flip the track piece upside down, and look for the tab (connection lip) marked "0". just to the inside of that tab, you will see the bridge that has to be cut. You have to cut it on each end of the track.
The orange arrow shows the bridge that you have to cut.
No extra power feeds are needed on each side of the contact track section. The power to the isolated outer rail gets restored by the first C-track piece that follows the contact track section.
One wire connected to the isolated ("snipped") tab under the track will run to your feedback module (S-88, M-88) or relay.
No red track insulators are needed with these contact tracks.
