Product description
Model: The locomotive has an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It also has controlled, high-efficiency propulsion. All axles powered. Traction tires. The triple headlights and dual red marker lights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. The headlights at Locomotive End 2 and 1 can be turned off separately in digital operation. The cab lighting changes over with the direction of travel and can be controlled digitally. Maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting. The locomotive has separately applied metal grab irons on the sides and ends. "From the Past into the Future" was presented on July 8, 2021 as the freshly overhauled diesel locomotive, road number 218 497, at the Cottbus facility. The DB Locomotive/Car Maintenance, Inc. (DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH) (FZI) is listed as the owner and its future use is to be as a lease locomotive. The FZI had road number 218 497-6 given a two-part paint scheme, which symbolizes the history of the Cottbus facility from steam locomotive overhauling (black/red) to ICE maintenance (ICE white with red stripes). In the future, the DB-FZI will operate the latest and most environmentally friendly railroad maintenance for Europe in Cottbus. By 2026, a new ICE hall for maintenance and repair of the ICE 4 will be built at the current location, a hall for the conversion of diesel units to hybrid technology with electric propulsion as well as a technology center for hybrid research and modern training facilities will also be built.
