The railroad grade crossing comes with half gates. This grade crossing can be connected directly to C Track. 2 solenoid activated gates with 2 red warning lights, which come on when the gates come down. This grade crossing is ready to be connected to the layout, easy installation.

Contact track set: 3 straight tracks each 94.2 mm / 3-3/4".

Dimensions for each base half 137 x 95 mm / 5-3/8" x 3-3/4".

Charlies Installation Tip

I have added a few extra pictures that may help you with the installation.

This crossing operates as follows:

-It "senses" the wheelsets of the locomotive and cars. This is done by isolating one of the two rails, and the crossing has an (internal) wire attached to that isolated piece of rail (the detection track).

-When a locomotive or car is on the detection track, the wheels connect the isolated rail to the other rail. The crossing senses that power, and will close/activate.

First Drawing

-Isolating the crossing is done by adding the two Contact Tracks on each side, as shown in the first drawing. The markings on those two Contact Track pieces need to both be on the same side of the track!

-After this step your crossing should work. The problem is that the crossing will not close until the train is almost on the crossing. So in the next step you will move the two Contact Tracks further away from the crossing.

Second Drawing

-Every regular C-track piece that you place between the special track piece (Contact Track) and the crossing will have to be "snipped". This snipping is done with track cutters, cutting pliers or even scissors.

-The second drawing shows where you need to cut the track. On the bottom of the C-track you see (at both ends) the metal tab with the marking "0" next to it. You cut the little metal piece immediately next to the tab, close to the center rail.

-Both ends of each regular C-track piece will have to be snipped.

Third drawing

-It simply shows all the track pieces with all the snips you will make.

-Again, both ends of each track piece will have to be snipped.
