Sound dual-power locomotive "dual mode" BR 248 Northrail VI AC, incl. PIKO sound decoder
New in 2025: Design variant of the BR 248 Vectron Dual Mode from Northrail in Era VI. The large side surfaces with the distinctive fans and the roof with a pantograph characterize the appearance of the modern Vectron Dual Mode. Great importance was also attached to details in the design and toolmaking: extremely three-dimensional engravings of the ventilation grilles and bogies with an excellent optical depth effect underline this. Technically, the model continues the proven line of PIKO designs. A powerful mid-engine serves as the drive, two flywheels ensure excellent running properties and diagonally arranged traction tires enable the transport of long trains. In digital operation, the driver's cab and driver's desk lighting can be switched digitally. For this purpose, the model has a PSD XP sound decoder ex works, which, in combination with the large loudspeaker, also ensures special sound experiences on the model railway layout. The model bears the fits mfx® quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliable for all users of the current Märklin digital control centers, a new quality mark "fits mfx®" was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone and fully passed a special mfx® test. These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed bear the quality mark "fits mfx®", which certifies the unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the "fits mfx®" logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
