Form variant! ■ First version with welded DB replacement water tanks and snow plow ■ Coal box with welded attachment ■ Leading and trailing wheel set with 9 spokes ■ With DB reflex lamps ■ In digital operation with switchable driver's cab lighting After the end of the Second World War, 386 BR 86 machines were in West Germany. Most of them could be repaired, so that in 1952 the DB had 378 locomotives of this series. Some 86s later received welded replacement water tanks. In addition to the classic branch line trains, the range of duties also included the regular transport of express trains and shunting in freight yards. The last machines were retired from service by the DB in 1974, designated as the 086 series.
