More than 3,700 examples of this versatile triple-coupled machine were built by German factories alone by 1923. The P 8 was universally applicable and could be found in front of all types of train. After the turmoil of the two world wars, they were in use by almost all European railway administrations. Poland received a total of 192 machines from Prussian stocks after 1918. From the beginning, they were the most important steam locomotives for local passenger transport for the PKP and were designated as the Ok1 series. Over the years, 429 locomotives of this series were used by the PKP. The Ok1-359 was not taken out of active service until the early 1980s. However, it was still in use as a museum locomotive for many years.
