The Dutch 1200 series electric locomotives are six-axle heavy electric locomotives. They were developed by the American Westinghouse and Baldwin companies, but built under license in the Netherlands. A total of 25 locomotives were sold to the Netherlands State Railways. The elevated, brawny front ends and the small driver's cab are characteristic of American locomotives. Most of the 1200 series locomotives were run by the NS until the year 1988. Today, only a few of these vehicles are still used in museums or private rail companies.
The locomotive with the number 1207 was supplied to the NS in 1952 under the factory number 931. This locomotive, in its turquoise livery, was used to haul the first post-war NS through train wagons.
