Roco 7510075 - Toothed rack electric locomotive (Sound)
Toothed rack electric locomotive (Sound)
Rack railway electric locomotive (similar to series E 69) of the Sonnblick Railway.
■ Can be driven with or without rack and pinion tracks
■ Thanks to its enormous climbing ability on rack and pinion tracks, the locomotive can overcome extraordinary height differences (up to 35%) even in the smallest of spaces
■ In digital mode with switchable shunting light, individually switchable headlights and tail lights and driver's cab lighting
■ Thanks to the particularly high gear ratio, it is also ideal for shunting on normal tracks
■ FLEISCHMANN PROFI coupling for rack and pinion operation for replacement is included
Rack and pinion railways exude a very special fascination with their unique combination of mountain scenery and daring routes, with numerous bridges and tunnels. The train moves forward by a gear engaging a rack in the middle of the track, as the usual friction between wheel and rail is no longer sufficient for the steep gradients. In the case of rack railways of the so-called mixed system, in which friction sections alternate with rack sections depending on the gradient, the traction is exerted by one and the same machine. In the Alps there are a particularly large number of private rack railways, which are very popular with tourists from all over the world.
