Electric locomotive 1042 592 of the Austrian Federal Railways.
■ Version with factory plates on the locomotive frame ■ In digital operation with switchable headlights or tail lights ■ With enclosed etched plate set A total of 257 machines of the universal electric locomotive series 1042 were built from 1963. From 1966, more powerful motors were installed in order to achieve a top speed of 150 km/h. These locomotives were given the series designation 1042.5. By installing a resistance brake, they received characteristic roof structures and reversed single-arm pantographs compared to the previously delivered locomotives. They were used for all types of trains, but mostly for fast passenger and freight trains, including cross-border trains to Germany. The 1042.643 was assembled at Simmering-Graz-Pauker in Graz under the factory number 71118. The electrical part comes from ELIN. Acceptance by the ÖBB took place in January 1975. The locomotive received a HG body in the Valousek design before its major overhaul on April 30, 1992.
